2D Imaging

In the past couple decades, the field of oceanography has expanded vastly due to the use of remotely sensed data from satellites, sail drones, autonomous floats, and other methods. Therefore, it has become essential for researchers and engineers in these field to obtain the knowledge to process and visualize this data in the formats that satellites and other forms of technology output, as opposed to previous methods of manually measuring oceanographic data. In this tutorial, we will be taking a binary code file of chlorophyll data, processed from NASA’s Sea-viewing Wide Field-of-view Sensor (SeaWiFS) satellite, processing it to a data array, and then utilizing the Matplotlib package to generate a colorful geospatial subsection of an oceanographic map.
